Wellness Wednesday’s are geared toward preparing each student for the mile-run fitnessgram test in April and “Digging Deeper” where each student will learn about different topics from the world of health, nutrition, and exercise. Character Education will also be taught.
The goal for each student is to be able to run for ten continuous minutes without stopping. Each student will also be able to qualify for the “Milers Club” and earn a free Milers Club shirt. Some of the health benefits of walking, jogging, and sprinting include: improving their cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, and body composition.
Wellness Wednesdays will also include running sprints, slow walking, fast walking, pacer runs, cross country jogging, running the mile and much more.
Milers Club is for all students at Sierra Vista. The qualifying time is 6 minutes and 45 seconds or less for all students. Boys and Girls who run the mile in 6 minutes and 45 seconds or less will qualify for the Milers Club and earn a free Milers Club t-shirt that you can see below. Every time we run the mile in class or during tutorial you have a chance to make the club!
