Caldwell’s Philosophy

Mission Statement

“There is no treatment or drug which can overcome or negate the effects of a poor diet, inadequate nutrition, lack of exercise, and an unhealthy lifestyle.”
~David Getoff, CTN, CCN, FAAIM, Vice President of the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation.

My goal is to guide each student through the world of holistic nutrition and functional exercise. Each student will learn how to reach their goals through eating live, organic foods full of vitality, through playing sports and through functional exercise using the 7 Primal Pattern Movements (squat, bend, lunge, push, pull, twist, and gait-walking, jogging, sprinting) that are used in our everyday lives, at work, and in all the sports we play. They’re the base for most movements we perform.

My Physical Education Program teaches my students how to “Eat, Move, And Be Healthy”(Paul Chek). On Monday, Tuesday and Fridays, traditional, individual, and team sports are offered, along with project adventure and international games.

To further their development in health/nutrition and fitness, my students participate in weekly Wednesday jog/walk and on Thursdays will participate in what’s called “Functional Exercise” so they can strengthen their muscles and stay functional in all of the Primal Pattern Movements. They’ll also have weekly “Word Of The Week”. I’ll also discuss topics that include organic foods, gluten, sugar, hydration, and why fats, carbohydrates, and proteins are important at each meal, the benefits of dairy, 6 types of stress, exercise, why rest is important, sleep benefits, why you “never” cut calories, and much more.

These activities involve sportsmanship, team work, friendly competition, and risk taking, while growing socially and developing a positive self-image.

By the end of my program I hope that each student will become intrinsically motivated to eat clean and organic foods and exercise in a healthy way for the rest of their lives.

Lunchtime Sports

The Lunchtime Intramural Sports program at Sierra Vista is for all girls and boys interested. Each sport is played for four weeks with prizes awarded to the first and second place teams. Lunchtime sports encourage all students to take part in extra curricular activities and is a great way to make friends and grow socially while having fun. Click on the Intramural Sports button to see what sports are offered.

Parents/Guardians I look forward to working with all of your sons/daughters this year. It’s going to be a great year. Please call or email me anytime with questions, comments, or concerns.
